DePlay is an interactive surface where you create music and animated art by placing and moving physical objects. A camera straight above the surface feeds it’s image to a projector, also straight above. With a video delay algorithm each movement on the surface is played 4 times with synchronized delays. The movement in different sections of the surface trigger different loops, all applying in synch with the animations. The result is a dynamic table where music, animation and physical objects becomes a new kind of interaction experience.
The project was created by Max Björverud and Håkan Lidbo and had its premiere ar DAC, Digital Art Center in Kista.
